This 18 Days best of Uganda Safari gives you a lifetime encounter of Uganda’s best tourism hotspots from the endangered mountain gorillas in the Bwindi forests to the enchanting wildlife in the savannah parks, a great aviation life unfirmly spread throughout the country. Experience the big African 5 giants, the thunderous roaring of the Murchison Falls, the Equator and the warm local people in the communities. This Safari covers 5 of Uganda’s major national parks of Bwindi, Queen Elizabeth, Kibale, Kidepo, Lake Mburo, national Park and one of Uganda’s icon beauty Lake Bunyonyi.

Itinerary

Day 1Pickup from the guest house and transfer to Jinja

Meet up with Pakasa Tours and Safaris safari guide for meet and greet, this is followed by a briefing about your 18 days best of Uganda safari where you will be told about the dos and donts of the safari. You will then embark on your Safari to Jinja the East African Adventure capital. You will have a stopover at Sezibwa falls for a nature walk and later proceed to jinja for a boat cruise at the source.

Day 2White water Rafting and Transfer to Sipi

Following an early breakfast, head out to the River for white water rafting, this is an adrenaline thrilling activity, you will be able to conquer the 5 rapids of the Nile and enjoy the cold breeze of this mighty river as continues with its journey to the Mediterranean Sea. After rafing, get onto the vehicle and drive to Jinja town for lunch and later Proceed to Sipi Falls.

Day 3Sipi Falls hiking and Coffee tour

Wakeup early, and have a lovely breakfast, get ready for the hiking experience of the Sipi Falls. You will walk through the green farms of the local people to the 3 falls. Along the trail different bird species can be sighted and small primates like the monkeys. Reach the top of the sipi falls for Photography and the beautiful views of the Kapchorwa region. Drive back to the Lodge for lunch and prepare for a coffe tour in the afternoon. Here you will have a chance to experience how the coffee is harvested to the final stage of roasting it and consuming it. Falls back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4Transfer to Kidepo valley National Park

Getup early in the morning, for breakfast and check out of the lodge. You will begin your 9 hours’ drive to Kidepo Valley National Park through the Karamoja endless plains. You will drive through various districts of soroti, moroto, kotido to the remotest Park in the North Eastern Part of the Country.

Day 5Explore Kidepo Valley National Park

An early breakfast will be followed by a game drive in Narus Valley in search of wildlife species like Cheetahs, rock lions, caracals, and Bat-eared foxes among others. The permanent water point in the valley attracts large herds of animals to drink and feed. Notable are the large herds of buffalos and the chances of seeing the big cats in action hunting and the dwarf crocodiles. On a lucky day, you will also see the rare cheetahs. You will then return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will have a relaxation and later return to the valley for an evening game drive. You will head out for another game drive to catch sight of wildlife that you could have missed during the morning game drive. The park has observation points with binoculars to help you spot animals from afar. Some of the bird species to look out for include Kori Bustard and Common Ostrich. You will then return to the lodge for short relaxation and overnight.

Day 6 Community Visit and Transfer to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After your breakfast, you will visit the Manyattas for a cultural experience. While there, you will have a variety of activities to choose from. These include milking the cows, simple hunting demonstrations, blood suckling from the cows, thatching the traditional houses and of course, participating in the famous Mori traditional dance. You can also purchase locally-made handicrafts before you start your journey to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary.

Day 7Rhino tracking in zziwa and transfer to Murchison falls Np

Zziwa rhino sanctuary is the only place in Uganda where rhinos are found in the wild, a trip to Murchison falls cannot be complete without having a stopover at Zziwa and have an encounter with the Rhinos in the wild. Following a heavy breakfast, you will have a chance to track the Rhinos on foot, you are given an hour with these animals for photography and watch them as they carry on with their daily tasks. after the tracking we shall proceed to MFNP using Masindi route up to the lodge. Day 8Game drive and boat cruise to the Bottom of the falls

Catch up with your safari guide for a Morning game drive in the northern sector of the park which gives you an encounter with various animals like elephants, water backs, Jackson heart beasts, Uganda kobs, buffaloes and predators like lions and leopards which hunt in the morning, shoebill tracking, and relaxation at the hippo pool before embarking back on the Paara side for the boat cruise.
In the afternoon, you will have a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls which is approximately 3 hours. The views while at the cruise are rewarding, you will see various animals which come to the banks to drink water and wallow off the heat from their bodies. Different water birds are sighted during the cruise and various water loving animals like hippos, Nile crocodiles are always in abundancy.

Day 9Top of the falls and drive to kibale National Park

Drive to the top of the falls and see how the mighty river fixes itself in a narrow gap of about 8m gorge pouring down at a depth of 43m forming the world’s strongest falls Murchison falls which lies besides uhuru falls, after the top of the falls experience, you drive out of the park via Hoima to Kibale forest National park for chimpanzee tracking having an enroute lunch along the road. Day 10Chimp tracking and bigodi wetland walk

After early breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for briefing and then go for tracking. Tacking may take an hour or more depending on where the Chimpanzees might have stayed overnight. It’s a breath taking activity where you come into con tact with our closest relatives and see how they spend their daily lives. Kibale National park is a forested park found in western Uganda, homes over 15 species of primates and it is registered to be one of the park with the largest primate’s numbers, over 400 bird species with the great Rwenzori Turaco commonly found in this park, the park has endemic bird species like the green breasted pitta only found in Kibale National park. Over 200 butterflies and 55 mammals including the forest elephants, giant forest hogs and many more.
after chimp tracking, drive back to the lodge for relaxing and then go for a community walk in bigodi and birding. After the community walk dinner at the lodge and overnight.

Day 11Transfer to Queen Elizabeth for an evening game drive

After breakfast in the morning, drive to Queen Elizabeth national park, it is almost a 2hrs drive from fort portal town, reaching the park in Lunch time, have lunch at the lodge.
After lunch and relaxation, you will do an evening game drive game drive in the Kasenyi plains. evening game drive, you may encounter animals like kobs, savannah elephants, warthogs among others, dinner at the lodge and an overnight.

Day 12Morning Game drive and boat cruise on kazinga channel

Early in the morning, you will embark on the vehicle for another game drive in the kasenyi Plains to the Lake Bunyampaka, here you can buy crafts and souvenirs to support the women to earn a better life in the communities around the park who sell their crafts in the park, on lucky day animals like lion’s leopards can be spotted especially in the morning hours. Drive back to lodge for lunch and relaxing.
After lunch, a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel is taken on where schools of hippos are spotted along this place, large numbers of water birds and herds or elephants which come to the channel for water. The boat cruise takes about two hours, after the cruise drive to lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 13Transfer to Ishasha and proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable NP

After breakfast the lodge, the drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park starts off via the ishasha sector, where a game drive is done in search of the famous tree climbing lions. The journey proceeds and an en route lunch in Kihihi. Checking in late evening at the lodge

Day 14Gorilla tracking and Batwa Community walk

After an early breakfast, the driver guide will drive you to the tracking center where you will be briefed about the dos and don’ts while with the gorillas. The tracking varies in time depending on the family tracked. You together with her trekkers start off your journey to the mountain gorillas, on locating a gorilla family, you are given an hour to watch and observe these gentle apes carry on with their daily tasks. After tracking, you are awarded with a certificated to celebrate the mile stone of gorilla trekking. the guide will drive you back to the lodge for a hot lunch, relax for some time and in the evening, you can go for Batwa experience and a community walk and see how the people in the area live their lives, interact with them and go back to the lodge for dinner

Day 15Transfer to lake Bunyonyi

Following breakfast, embark on your vehicle through the green hills of Kabale to lake Bunyonyi. It is a very beautiful and calm place to relax and unwind as you reflect on the past Days of your Safari.
Check in at your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

Day 16Explore Lake Bunyonyi

After morning breakfast, explore lake Bunyonyi locally known as the lake of small birds, the canoe gives u chance to discover the famous punishment islands where girls who got pregnant before marriage where throw to starve to death as their punishment other islands like upside down islands are some of the historic of the 29 islands on the lake, Drive back to the lodge for Lunch and prepare for a community walk along the Lake.
After the breath taking, canoe, lunch at lodge as you prepare for approximately 5-6 hours’ journey to lake Mburo National park lake Mburo national park is the smallest savannah park of Uganda and nearest to Kampala city, it homes highest numbers of Zebras, Impalas and elands in the country. The Animals from the park graze together with livestock of community members in harmony hence making it the only park where the wild whispers to us.

Day 17Game drive and Boat cruise in lake Mburo Np

After breakfast, pickup by the driver for a game drive in the park, during the drive, various animals can be found grazing in the morning like the impalas, zebras, eland’s warthogs and giraffes which were introduced in the park in 2016. Lunch break at the lodge
After lunch a boat cruise on lake Mburo with where u expect to see high number of hippos and different bird species after drive to the lodge for relaxation and wait for return journey the following day.

Day 18Walking Safari and Transfer to Kampala.

After an early breakfast, you will have a walk in the calm whispers of the wild, you will have a chance to interact with the wild nature with no engines sounds. You will watch zebras, impalas as they graze in harmony with the long Ankole cattle. After this awesome experience, you will embark on your return journey making a stop at the Equator for photography and hot lunch before you drive to Entebbe to end the safari.
