Itinerary

Day 1Transfer to Virunga National Park from Kigali.

On arrival in Kigali, our company driver guide will welcome you, brief you about the entire tour and drive through Kigali to Virunga national park in D.R. Congo.
On your way, enjoy beautiful landscapes of the relatively high hills in huge green plantations and homesteads. You will Virunga national park towards lunch time, check in to your booked lodge and enjoy your luncheon and relax in the soothing calm environment from the long journey.

Day 2Gorilla trekking in the Virunga.

Immediately after an early breakfast and set off to the park offices for briefing on the trekking guidelines and cross-checking the permits and get ready to enter the dense forests. Along this walk, you will be able to spot some animals like giant forest hogs, small primates like red-tailed, black and white colubus and vervet monkeys. The adventure is roughly lasts between 2-8 hours. On reaching the gorillas, you are allowed an hour with the mountain gorillas as you take photos, see how they handle their young ones, carry on with their daily tasks and how they react to people around them. After the gorilla trekking experience, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

Day 3Hiking the Nyiragongo Peak

On the 3rd day, wake up in the morning before sun rise, enjoy cool temperatures of Virunga national park and enjoy breakfast. Proceed to the offices for check-in and start your hiking with a well-armed ranger. On your trek, meet some primates and watch beautiful birds as you continue to the top of Nyiragongo Mountain.
On top of the mountain, explore a boiling lava lake which erupted recently in May 2021. Take some photos and head to the campsite where you will have lunch and spend a night at the summit. You will need some important equipment like the headlamps and sleeping tents.

Day 4Descend from Mount. Nyiragongo and transfer back to Kigali.

Wake up early for breakfast, pack your luggage and check out from the campsite and descend the mountain as you enjoy virgin nature. Upon reaching at the base camp your driver will be ready to transfer you back to Kigali. Have an enroute lunch and an optional activity of Kigali city tour before departure flight.
